Today is the 18th Day of the Omer (April 30-May 1, 2006) 2006), which is Netzach in Tiferet.
Mt. San Gorgonio Peak is 11,499 feet above sea level. It is the highest peak in Southern California. It's nickname is "Grayback" since the peak is above the altitude at which trees can survive.
I've hiked to the top of Grayback twice. Seeing it from the plane always brings back good memories of feeling strong in my body.
Sometimes we need to go far away just to feel the bones we inhabit . As a young person I felt, unconsciously mostly, that I needed to physically move in order to affirm that my life was moving forward.
Approching 50 I'm more capable of continuing my "journey" while staying in one spot, but the memories of adventures from long ago continue to live in me.
On this Chai (18 as expressed in Hebrew letters spells "life") day of the Omer, on Netzach (enduringness) in Tiferet (perspective), may the memories of our journeys and the perspectives they brought heighten our aliveness and inspire our current and future explorations.
